Volvo: 1993 960 Wagon, car volvo, quality tires

Question
I love this car, she needs a fair amount of cosmetic work b/c she's a senior! (about 163k miles). I bought it from the original owner who took good care of it & I have too. Over the years I've replaced numerous engine parts, shocks, flushed coolants, regular oil changes, quality tires-new radiator, brakes maintained, air mass meter, what else? At this mooment it runs great(one cylinder has lower compression than the rest, but this hasn't worsened in the last two years.)Here's the problem: everyone close to me say it's a junker & have implored me to get rid of it.  I think it's worth fixing up & may even be collectible at some point b/c it is so reliable & well made. A Volvo mechanic told me that in his opinion this make & model is the best car Volvo has ever made! What do you know of them & do you think it's worth keeping and restoring? (Not from a sentimental point of view- cuz I've already got that... but from a practical,
economical and critical evaluation.
Thank you & I can't wait to hear back from you.

Answer
Nikky,
What the car is worth is up to you. If the car runs fine and no major work is needed, why not just continue to drive and enjoy it? To restore it, are you considering a reman engine and trans? If so that will get expensive. I have not heard that this vehicle is yet a collectable. There is always the paint and body to consider also. My personal favorite is the 940 Turbo models. A four cylinder and a turbo reliable and fairly simple to maintain.
