Volvo: Volvo V40 Battery Draining, volvo v40, battery drain

I changed the stereo in my 1997 V40 and ever since then the wipers stay on and the windows still operate when key is taken out (never used to happen)and something is draining my battery.  I had the battery changed and now the mechanic is telling me it's my alternator - this still does not explain things staying on, any ideas?

Remove the radio and see if that will stop all those problems. I would say that the installation has crossed a wire or two and that is the cause of your problem.
As for the battery first see if the radio is the cause of the battery drain, then have the alt retested.
