Volvo: S70 -00 almost stalls on start, throttle plate, cold engine

Question
When starting the cold engine (B5244S) the revs after a normal startup immediately goes down, almost to stalling, then after a second or two back to normal, after that the engine works perfect. I have heard about a cold start valve but is that one working during the actual startup of the engine or/and is it working to keep the engine running steady?

Answer
Kent,
Sometime stalling happens when the throttle plate is dirty and needs cleaning. Other times there could be a carbon build up on the intake valves that soaks up the fuel and then cause the stalling. Clean throttle plate and add some fuel system cleaner to see if that helps.
