Volvo: 1996 Volvo 850 Non-Turbo, mass air flow meter, mass air flow sensor

Question
Dear Ray, I was on google and I typed in the following: (1996 Volvo 850 idle problems) and I saw that you helped out a previous person with the exact same problemn as I have. This car runs absolutely perfect when you first start it up, then after a long drive it starts to idle up and down and eventually cuts off. If you wait a few minutes you can start it back up and it will run good again. No check engine light, no codes, no vacuum leaks however I'm sure whatever fixed that other guys problem will fix this problem. Maybe a mass air flow sensor? Crank Sensor? I don't know?

Answer
Eric,
Some of the biggest problems with those cars are vacuum leaks, and the Mass Air Flow Meter. I have had several that will not set any code run bad all caused by the MAF.
You may also concider cleaning the throttle housing of the carbom build up in it.
