Volvo: Timing belt, timing belt, s80

Question
The timing belt on my 2000 S80 with 59k miles broke while driving on the highway without warning. To fix it is very costly. Is it worth fixing? Is the engine permanently damaged?

Answer
Joe,
Worth fixing or not is about how you like the vehicle and if you are prepared to invest in that vehicle any longer. The engine will have a the very least bent valves, or at the worst bent valves and holes in the pistons. Personally I would fix it.
