What to do with this?  Dashboard engine temp indicator indicates normal (horizontal), no other abnormalities.  Is it a sensor I can easily replace?

Temp sensor is located in the thermostat housing. It has a two wire connector. When reading the codes there should be a status message. That message will lend more information as to where the problem lies. I have seen many sensors go bad. You could replace the sensor and clear the codes and see what happens.
