Volvo: 1995 Volvo 850 GLT, volvo 850 glt, power antenna mast

Question
Hi Jimmy-
You helped me quite a bit a couple years ago when I first got this car.  Hopefully, these won't be too many questions:

Power antenna mast taken out after noticing that it wouldn't retract when car/radio cut off.  I was noticing a distinct smell coming from the area of the power motor, and when I learned how to take the mast out, I concluded the smell came from the plastic end of the mast.  Does this mean I will have to replace the entire motor, or can I take the motor off the car, open it and clean out whatever plastic is left in there?  Or, can I try to insert a new mast, hoping that the motor will grab hold of it? Are there any recommended sites detailing how to access and take the power motor apart?

Next, my gas door has come completely off the car.  Can it be replaced, or will I have to somehow try to re-attach it with the strongest epoxy I can find? Are there any recommended sites showing how to repair/replace the door?

Answer
Hello! Try to replaced the antenna mast first. If the motor is not working, you will need to replace the whole antenna. You should be able to replace the gas door hinge. It is available at any Volvo dealer. If the door is not broken, you should be able to re-attach the door.
