Volvo: Acceleration probs, test scanners, volvo 850

My 1997 Volvo 850 recently started giving me problems.  When I try to accelerate, the car won't...it seems as if the car is getting the gas, but not responding. The check engine light also flashes when this happens. The car has 108,000 miles....any suggestions? Thanks!!!

There should be some code(s) to read in the system and those codes will lead you to the problem. The system uses self diagnostics and should post some codes. You will need the help of a Volvo shop that has the test scanners that will read the codes. After reading the fault codes then you will more know what options there are to the repair and return of your car to a good running vehicle.
