Volvo: 2006 VolvoS40 brake problem, volvo service, volvo dealer

Question
I have had intermittent problems with the brakes on my new Volvo S40.  It is a 2.0 diesel and on 3 occasions I have hit the brake pedal and it is rock solid and nothing happens!  After a short time the brakes then work normally.  On the occasions it has happened the car has not warmed up although the brakes work at first, this problem occurs within 4 mins of running.  Can you help?  I have left the car with the local Volvo dealer who cannot replicate the problem.

Answer
Nina,
There were on eariler S40's a brake booster problem. Have the dealer check if all those problems have been fixed and if your car in one that could be in this problem area.
If all that fails, make an appointment with the Volvo service rep that visits that dealer and tell him/her of the problem. That problem sounds serious enough to call in extra help, insist that you see the rep.
