Mitsubishi Repair: 93 talon 1.8 lack of power, performance loss, egr valve

i have a 93 eagle talon 1.8 non-turbo 5 speed manual 157,000 miles VIN--4E3CF34B6PEO29811 it lacks power has no codes new pgs wrs cap rtr pcv fuel&air fltrs to no avail i'm thinking the timing belt next. if it doesn't do the trick it's due anyway, but should i be surprised if it if it doesn't work, what's next to try????the manual has a LONG list what't 1st?

Replacing the timing belt and setting it properly can definitely bring back more power.  If your timing is off, your car's computer will retard the ignition timing to make sure the engine runs properly; this causes performance loss.  You can try other things like cleaning the throttle body, cleaning the EGR valve, and cleaning the fuel injectors.  Make sure there are no leaks in the intake or exhaust system.  Those are things I would try first.  But on an older car like that, it can't hurt to go down the list of all the easy things to try first until you find the problem.
