Volvo: Engine Breather Box for Volvo S80 (2000 Model), volvo s80, time jimmy

I just had annual inspection for my car. The dealer said that (1) the engine breather box is clogged and needs to be changed and (2) front air guard is missing.  It sounded like that this fix could cost several hundred dolloars. Could tell me (1) what is engine breather box and (2) approximately how much this type of repair should cost?  Thank you in advance for your help.

The cost can vary depending on the labor rate and parts pricing rate. It can run around 400-500 dollars. Turbo engines will have a higher cost to due more labor time.
