Volvo: volvo radio removal, radio knobs, volvo radio

Question
Thank you. However, the appearance of the radio does not allow
that. There is only one (1) left side 'knob' and no clip beneath it.
The remainder of the protuberances are all 'push button' type
and do not pull off. At the very lateral aspects of the radio/
cassette there are slots that seem to be between the faceplate
and the radio proper, with what may be clips of some sort within
those slots; but for the life of me, I cannot even get the faceplate
off without fear of breaking it off.

Question -
I have a 1994 Volvo 940 wagon. How do I get the stock radio
out? I see no tabs to grasp or screws to release. Do I need a
specialized tool?

Answer -
Stephan,
Pull off the radio knobs and look inside that area. There is a
small clip that you need to pull inward (to the center of the
radio) while pulling the radio forward. I put my hand in the
cassette door and pull the clip one at a time pulling at the radio.

Answer
Stephen,
Ok then you have a CR718 radio and in those slots, looking with a bright light you can see a metal tab that with a pocket screw driver will allow you to push the clip in toward the center of the radio, that releases it. However the radio will have to be pulled from each side as the clip is released, sometimes they are pretty tight after being in there so long. The face plate will remain on the radio.
