Question -
Hi, my question is my son was given a 1992 volvo it seems to run good, but my question is he or I don't know what s,w,e on the gears mean, he wasn't given a manual, and should he do anything with these gears while driving.  I know must be a very dumb question  but we never had a volvo before and I never seen these on any gears. thank you.. G.R.

Answer -
Mr. Roman,
Sport Enconomy and winter. Sport has the sharper more crisp shifts. Enconomy has smoother shifts and does not hold out the shift as long as Spoet. Winter allows moving the car in snow or on ice. it starts out in third gear as to not spin the tires. Winter will revert back to S or P when the key is cycled also if the accelarater pedel is floored.

Answer
G. Roman,
There is a radio code that needs to be put into the radio. You can only do this when the radio says CODE. Since it says rpt the wrong code has been put into the radio three times and it is locked out. Put the key in the number I position and the radio on, let the car sit for a couple of hours the display will change form the rpt to code, at that point put the radio code in and push the aut button. The code should have been supplied when the car was purchased. Otherwise call a Volvo dealer and provide them the radio model serial and part number.
