Volvo: emission failure light, test scanners, emission system

My check engine light is flashing & I am getting a message emission system reqired.

That will require testing the system to see what code it has stored and go to that componant for further testing. The car in the condition it is in might run ok, but there is a need to have the emission system tested. Take it to someone that has the test scanners and have those codes read, and the problem repaired.
