Volvo: Air condition, compressor load, selinoid

Question
Dear Ray

Thank you in advance, I have a volvo 240-1984 and I had replaced the whole engine with B200 engine 1991 "fuel injection". I have a little bouring problem with the AC, when I turn it on and the compressor engages, the RPM drops due to the compressor load instead of rising up to compensate the load. There are 3 narrow hoses coming out of the engine I think they are related to this problem. Also into the engine compartement behind the dashboard (near the wipper motor) there is a selinoid (or switch may be) which has 3 inlet for hoses and a place for 2 poles wirring harness. How these hoses are connected to do the job?
Thank you again.

Ahmad

Answer
Ahmad,
In the United States the idle is controled by the fuel injection control unit and uses no "hoses" to idle up the engine. Here also we do not have a B200, but a B230F. So that being the case I would say that the control unit in your car is not getting the signal from the A/C compressor to up the idle. That might require getting a wiring diagram of the control unit and see what kind of signal it needs and where it must come from. Not an easy task. Is there a way you can just adjust the idle a bit higher to help?
