Question -
I purchased a 1998 V70 cross country. it currently has Toyo Observe winter tires .. I need
summer touring tires 205/65/R15.  I live in the mountains of Colorado, we get occasional afternoon thunderstorms.  I'm looking for tires that grip well, have comfortable and quiet ride. I take several summer trips to NM and Seattle, long trips . Hope this isn't too much info. Your assistance is much appreciated.  thanks Audrey

well tires are a matter of trade offs, traction, noise, mileage, wear, ride comfort, etc.if your looking for good wet traction you want tires that have those quarter inch wide (usually 4 of them) lines in them, that run all the way around the tire, the grooves prevent hydroplaning, and there are other side grooves to throw the water out sideways too, the best touring tires would have the 4 lines and maximum rubber contacting road, but the trade off might be less comfort and maybe noise but you can get a lot of mileage out of this type of tire, if you wanted a tire with more wet traction, (more grooves) this tire might not last as long. tire manufacturers try to strike the perfect balance

Answer
in the last few years tire manufacturers use advanced computers to help design tires so in my personal opinion they are all the same and all offer whatever your looking for i would get the one that looks best to you and of course what you want out of the tire, wet traction, ride etc. my favorite tires are continental and michelin
