Volvo: Air Conditioning system, air conditioning compressor, temp sensor

Question

Hello Ray,

sorry to bother you once again.. however I have problem with the A/C system which is making me bored really. the problem is, I bought the car last year from a family relative he told me the air conditioning compressor is defective so I had it replaced.. then I also realized the temp sensor is defective too cause it was blowing cold air in the beginning then all hot.. so after replacement the problem was gone.. the car's A/C system was working very well.. however another problem showed up.. the problem is as long as I drive the car between 1500 to 3500 revs there is no problem.. but if the car is driven in higher revs from 4000 to 5500 for example the gas in the A/C system is leaking within a week. only in a week there is no gas left and the compressor shuts itself down.. I'm able to hear the sound coming on and off. now I'm sure that there is a leak, I guess its a small leak... so I will take the car somewhere which the guys will remove the who A/C system and get it checked for leaks..  the person at the service has also told me that the evoporator might be the cause..  I really wonder  whats your opinion about this? so if you agree I'll get a new evoporator too..  I will be really happy if you guide me about this..

Answer
Mete,
If you hear a leak, that should be a sign that it is repairable and will be easy to find. Do you hear this sound inside the car or from the engine compartment? Inside the car could easily be the evap. Outside a hose or line. When the cars A/C was working did it have any tracer dye in the system? That dye is used to identify any leaks that are there. Using a black light and some special glasses those areas that leak carry some dye and are identifiable. If need be have the system recharged and use the dye that way a leak should be one that can be found.
