Volvo: volvo 850 ac problem, flashing light, volvo 850

Question
My wife has a 1996 volvo 850. We just spent almost 2,000 replacing the evaporator and the compressor. Yesterday the a/c was working great, blowing very cold air. Today when she started the car with all the settings on auto there was no air blowing at all and the red lights on the a/c and the recirc were both flashing. She is driving home and still there is no activity from the blower. What could this be. I know they had to disconnect the enitre dash to get to the evaporator. Thanks.

Answer
Ira,
When the lights on the panel flash it means that there is a code in the climate unit. You need a scanner to read those codes. My guess since the blower is not working you most likely will find a code(s) relating to the blower motor. Blower motors and the power stage for the blower motor have a high failure rate. So you will possibly need a new blower motor and power stage.
Yes you are correct that the entire dash has to be removed, but a flashing light on the panel says there are codes to be read. I can not really say that there is a connection.
