Hello Ray,

I have a Volvo V70 AWD XC. I noticed a few times that about an hour after switching the car off the air conditioning suddenly starts, the engine is off and the cooling fan is off.

This has happened particularly when the temperatures are high...about 38 degrees C. Please do not confuse this with the engine fan staying on for some time after the car is off during hot weather.

Some Volvos have programed into the climate system what is called "after blow". That is where the interior blower motor starts and runs for a few minutes. That is to dry out the evaporator after the condensation drains away. That keeps mold from forming on the evaporator and in the case. Taking it to the dealer they have the ability to cancel that feature.
