Volvo: Should I buy, 2001 volvo s40, high mileage

Question
I've been looking around to buy a used Volvo S40. I have located a 2001 Volvo S40 1.9T with 133k miles. The only info I have is from the CARFAX report. It was registeres as a rental vehicle for 8 months and then sold to a second owner. It is now being sold by a used car lot which probably got the car at auction, although this is not reported in report.  It failed emissions at 110k miles but then passed at 119k after repairs. The salesperson has currently taken the vehicle to replace vacuum pump (recall). Being that this vehicle has so many miles, do you recommend that I buy it or steer away from it. I do plan to take it to a mechanic to have it inspected. What repairs should I be aware that it might need soon?
I appreciate your advice.

Answer
Betty,
The miles are high. I have not seen any S40 with that high of mileage. I do not have a track record of high mileage S40's. Have the car checked by a pro and see if there is yet mileage left on this one. Unless the deal is very sweet I would look for a car with less mileage.
