Volvo: 1985 Volvo wing mirror, plastic fasteners, plastic utensils

Question
We are replacing the driver's-side wing mirror on a 1985 Volvo 850.  In order to get access to the screws that attach the mirror, we need to remove a triangular piece of interior trim on the driver's door.  How does this come off?  If we try to pry it off, will it break?  Or is there a trick to it?

Many thanks

Answer
Well, not being able to put hands on your 850, I can't be %1000 sure.  I recommend moving it up and down (most pobably up), feeling for a "plastic click".  I've removed most of the trim in my '89 240 and it was mostly held in place by cheap plastic fasteners.  The good part is, if you break anything chances are there's a junk yard with the replacement trim and fasteners.  Another thing, when you start removing trim, it can sometimes be difficult to return it to like-new condition, so try using plastic utensils to avoid scuffing.  A common rule of thumb is to be smarter than the trim, meaning pry to a point, then look for the intelligent necessary movement.  With a little dilligence and care, I'm sure you'll have no difficulty returning it to 100%
