Volvo: jerking volvo, 2000 volvo s70, volvo s70

Question
Hey Jimmy,
I have a 2000 Volvo S70 with a spotty service record with 76,000 miles and have never had a problem until today.  I was pulling out from a light and my car started jerking when I accelerated and the check engine light flashed on and off, when I accelerate over 35-40 mph  the check engine light turns off and the car is fine.  Any suggestions what the problem might be and will it cost me a fortune to repair?  (I avoid the dealership, way to pricey)
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello! You will need to have the car checked out by a Volvo technician for an accurate diagnosis. Special tols are needed to read the faults stored in the computer. Those fault codes that are stored will lead you to the root of the problem. If I had to guess, I would say the ETM (electronic throttle module) is the cause. It can also be caused by a bad ignition coil. Either way, it is best to have a technician check it out ASAP before you get stuck.
