Volvo: 86 240 DL wagon..defrost/floor button and rear defrost, rear tailgate, demister

The 3 buttons on my control panel won't work....the one that makes the air come out to the floor; the air recirculating button; and the defrost button.

Also the rear demister switch is not working.

Can you offer any advice?

I'm going to guess you have two seperate problems.  The rear demister is almost always because you have a break in the wires that go up through the hinges of your rear tailgate.  It usually requires that you replace that short length of wire.  As for the center controls, those are all vacuum powered, so you probably have a break or disconnected rubber hose behind the panel.  You'll need to investigate and make sure the hose can still hold a vacuum.  Hope that helps.
