Volvo: 1992 940 turns over wont start, 1992 volvo 940, volvo 940

Question
i have a 1992 volvo 940 non turbo with an automatic
transimission (215,000 miles)

when i turn the key to start up the car, it turns over but won't
ignite. the first time it seemed like it ignited for like, three
seconds. after that it wouldn't ignite at all. it has fuel.
i read some of the other q&a's that may relate to this.
i am going to check the spark plugs out after hitting the
bookstore for one of those repair manuals. do the back track
through the electrical thing.
is it possible that it is the fuel pump? or some sort of injector or
something?
i don't have a bunch of money to throw at this problem
unfortunately, and so looking for quick leads to solving the
problem homemade style.
thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello! If you are saying you have fuel, the pump must be ok. You need to determine what is missing? Is there spark? Is there really fuel? Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. The car may need to be checked out by a qualified technician for a proper diagnosis. If not you may be wasting more money by trying to guess at the problem.
