Volvo: Loss of power, battery cables, volvo 240

Question
I have  a 1984 Volvo 240 with a B23F engine. It would randomly lose power and run rough. I replaced the mass airflow and cleaned up the battery cables; it runs much better but when the I go on another errand after the engine cools it loses power and sometimes dies after about 1 mile. When I turn it off and restart it, it runs fine. Any suggestions?

Answer
It sounds like you have have a clog in either your fuel filter or one of your injectors.  Clogs can float up and get lodged in the filter while driving, then float to the bottom while stopped, allowing you to start the car again.  I would have both those checked for stoppages.  Another thing to check is the position knock sensor.  If it failed, the timing of the engine can be thrown off to a degree it will stall as well.  Good luck!
