Volvo: gears slip when driving, volvo 240 dl, volvo 240

i own a 89 volvo 240 dl recently when I  drive my car in drive sometimes I  can feel it sliping to next gear....I  was informed  its the bushings , what is that can you explain?    dave

Hello Dave! If the trans is slipping, I would start by checking the fluid. Make sure is is clean and full. There is a tailshaft bushing and seal that may be leaking. This will cause a large amount of fluid loss and can cause a slip. It is best to have it repaired ASAP before you do further damage to the transmission.
