Volvo: volvo 240 stalling, volvo 240, loose ground

Question
I have a 92' Volvo 240- I have had it for 3 months. Without notice it stalls on me-usually when I'm coasting or coming to a stop-but with that said it has stalled while sitting-in idol.
I have heard many things from a loose ground to something in the distributor cap. I can not afford to spend $$$$ not knowing the cure. Any ideas?
THANK YOU
Jim

Answer
The first cheapest thing to check is the expose 12V contacts around the coil.  They can get corroded and cause random stalls like you mentioned.  Running sandpaper over the contacts to expose fresh metal can fix that problem.  One thing to ask yourself is if the car dies strait away, or if it gets rough before it dies.  That would help narrow down if the problem is electrical or fuel related.  Good luck!
