Volvo: electric seats, manual override, intermittent problem

Question
Is there a way to manually move an electric power seat? The passenger seat will move forward but not back. This has been an intermittent problem. The Stop button appears to be off and the track clear.

The electric motors for the seat are tied directly to the axis of motion with gears, and there isn't a manual override.  You can try, but in most cases, it is impossible to backdrive the gears and motor by forcing the seat to move, the gear ratio is usually way to high.  Your best bet is to remove the seat all together and figure out why it won't move back.  It probably has to do with a stripped gear that needs to be replaced.  Good luck!
