Volvo: 98 s 70 volvo, turbo replacement, s 70

Question
Does a turbo replacement usually work well?
I like my car, but don't need to sink 1800. into it to replace the turbo if I am going to still have problems.  One mechanic says to sell it ( he says that he doesn't like turbos).  Another mechanic says that it should do well.
I am going to pay for another diagnosis before we purchase the turbo and have it put in.

Answer
Hello Judith! Replacing the turbo works well provided the job is done correctly and there are no other issues. It is best to have a qualified Volvo technician do the job. I would also get a second opinion and a overall checkout of the car to make sure you don't have any other problems.
