Volvo: Keyless remote problem, s90, batteries

Question
I managed to put my keyless remote for my '97 S90 through the wash.  I removed the batteries and waited until it was completely dry inside before putting the batteries back in (24+ hours).  Now the remote is chirping intermittently and if I'm close to my car it will lock and unlock the doors and set off the alarm when I try to start the car.  I've tried removing the batteries again and pressing both remote buttons simultaneously but it still chirps.  Have I ruined the remote?  Do you have any suggestions of ways I can make it useable again?

Thanks!  Lisa

Answer
Hello Lisa! It sounds like you need to replace the remote. You can try to re-program it to see if it works. Sit in the car with all doors closed. Turn the key in the ignition on and off 5 times, on the 5th turn leavr the ignition on and press the remote buttons "lock" and "unlock", remove the key and try the remote. If it does not work, you will need to replace it.
