My 1998 S70 non-turbo with 62,000 miles on it has developed a hesitation, or misfiring very briefly at almost any speed.  it has occurred before only a few times in 5 years, but right after having the battery replaced it seemed to get really bad.  Now it is only slightly felt.  It seems to occur just after you get up to speed and let up on the gas to maintain a cruising speed.  Just a very brief misfiring.  One time, and only once, while going about 60 MPH it stumbled so hard it caused the "Check Engine Light" to come on.  Had it checked out, new spark plug wires, rotor, dist cap.  The only code that has shown up is for the one time Check Engine Light occurrence.

Hello Ken!What codes were present when the check engine light came on? Was there any faults in the transmission? The more info I have the better I can help you.

Jimmy
The only code I was told indicated misfire in all cylinders.  A one time code that happened while travelling on the Maine Turnpike at cruise speed.  There have been no more codes even with the continued hesitation.  There were no transmission codes at all.

Answer
Hey Ken! Thanks for the extra info. That is a tough one. The only possible thing I can think of is a faulty spark plug or an ignition wire. Unless the parts you used are not original, they could still cause that problem. Also, check all the engine mounts. If they are worn, it could give to the feeilng of a misfire.
