Volvo: 1989 740 non turbo, fuel pumps, bell housing

Question
Do you know any reason why a 8 valve b230f would'nt work in where a 16 valve b234 used to be? The only difference I can see is the obvious. It has all the same sensors What do you think?

Answer
I think you're right that the obvious things are the same.  Physically, the engine has the same mount points and bell housing pattern, so it will bolt right up like the old one.  The only thing I would check on is making sure the B234 has the same fuel delivery requirements as the old B230 (fuel line pressure, etc.).  They might have slightly different fuel pumps and/or regulators to make up for the slight delivery differences, if there is any.  Other than that, I think you're good to go.  Good luck!
