Volvo: 1989 volvo 740 gl o2 sensor, volvo 740 gl, o2 sensors

Question
I'm wondering about the location of the O2 sensor on this engine.  I'm looking for it on the exhaust manifold, but it seems to actually be beside the oil filter.

I'm also trying to replace it with an NPK universal 3-wire sensor, but the sensor I see only has the computer wire.

Am I even in the right place?  Or am I missing the o2 sensor completely?  If this is the sensor, do I just not connect the heater wires?  And, it's in a really tough spot!  Do I really need a o2 socket?  Or is there a better way to get at it?

Thanks!

Answer
Hello Paddy! The o2 sensor should be located in the front exhaust pipe or the cat. caonverter. You should be able to use a 7/8 or 22mm wrench. Although, the socket does work best. The wires run along the body of the car up to the firewall and connect near the a/c accumulator. It is best to replace it with an original Boch part. Those universal o2 sensors do not work very well.
