Volvo: Volvo - Check Engine Light On / Fan noise, radiator cover, volvo model

Question
There is no one else available to answer questions in the Volvo chat room...and my question is not on a 240 - but if you have any thoughts, i would love to hear them...

Year:  1998
Make:  Volvo
Model:  S70
Repair History:  Minor accident about 2 weeks ago - i had some body work done to repair the drivers side turn light, front left panel, front left corner of the hood and the radiator cover (?) was replaced.

The car had been running fine and all of a sudden the Check Engine light came on.  I drove it for appx. 4 more miles and then when i parked it and turned the car off, a fan-like noise was coming from the engine.

About 12 hours later I tried to start the car and it took a few tries.  When the car started, it didn't sound normal.  I let it run for about 3 minutes or so before turning it off.  The fan-noise continued after I turned it off.

I would greatly appreciate hearing any thoughts you might have!  Thanks for your help.

Answer
I'm going to need more information about what exactly "sounded" wrong with the car.  I know that the fan noise after you turn it off is a normal function.  The computer will run the electric fan after the car shuts off to make sure the engine doesn't build up heat and damage itself after the coolant stops circulating.  Other then that, I'm not sure what else is wrong.  Could you give more info?
