Volvo: Volvo purchase from Canada, volvo 240 gl, volvo 240

Question
I have the opportunity to purchase a 1986 Volvo 240 GL from an owner who bought the car in Canada across the border from our home (Detroit). The exterior & interior of the car is in very good condition. The speedometer is  metric with 226190 km which I equate to 140548 miles.  Should I be concerned with purchasing this vehicle?  Asking price is $1900.  Thank you for any advice!

Answer
Sounds like a pretty good deal, but one thing that comes to mind is smog.  Canadian models had different emissions requirements, and sometimes can be hard to get to pass smog in the states.  I would make sure that won't be a problem before you buy the car.  Other then that, if the engine checks out mechanically, $1900 is a pretty good price for a car with low mileage like that.  Good luck!
