Volvo: Dead Volvo, volvo 940, thanksgiving holiday

Question
I love my 1994 Volvo 940.  I parked it in my garage over the Thanksgiving holiday and returning a couple days later when I tried to start it up the car was dead.  Not even a dim light in the dome light.  I tried using my battery charger but that didn't seem to make a difference.  I just dropped in a new battery from WalMart (only place open) and no joy.  I checked the fuses and the main fuse is fine.

The temp dropped to the mid 30s.  I don't know how old the battery is as I've had the car about 2½ years and I've not replaced it.  What do you suggest?

Thanks.

Karl

Answer
If the car is completely lifeless, then it is definetly something with the battery.  I don't know what condition new batteries come in (perhaps not fully charged), so for now I would get someone to jump you and charge the new battery.  If after your car runs for a while but then is dead when you try again, either your alternator isn't properly charging the batter or you have a short somewhere close to the battery which is shorting it to the chasis.  Good luck!
