Volvo: ABS sensor gone bad, 1998 volvo v70, volvo v70

Question
Received a diagnostic from the local Volvo dealership service department.  Service tech informed me that I have a bad ABS sensor that can be replaced at around $800.00.  I there a do-it-yourself work around for this little holiday season set-back?
1998 Volvo - V70 - 2.5L - Non-Turbo

Any help is appreciated,

Answer
Hello Michael! Do you mean the ABS control module? If that is the problem, it can be a very expensive repair. $800 sounds a little high! At my shop, it would cost around $500. The module costs about $450. It is very easy to replace, although you will need a special inverted torx socket to remove the screws holding it in place.
