Question
My 1994 Volvo (940 turbo) has recently "shut-off" while driving,(twice now) almost as if someone turned off the key. I lose all power and roll to a stop. Fortunately I was not on a major highway doing 70 MPH when this happened, but also, my shifter sticks in "PARK" and I have to press the "shift-lock" 'override " button to get it out of PARK and into Drive. Can you offer any advice? Thank you, Steve

Answer
I would have your transmission looked at; the two problems could be related.  Sometimes with automatic transmissions, if you accidently shift into park or reverse while driving, the engine will either shut down on purpose or immediately stall.  If your transmission is doing this while driving, it might account for the sudden engine death at speed.  The tranmission could also be slipping into different gears without you neccesarly seeing your shifter knob move.  The fact that it sticks in park could also be another indicator of something seriously wrong.  I would have it looked at soon.
