QuestionI recently bought a Vovlo S80 2.4 2000 model. it has done 126K milage. I no nothing about cars so the first thing i did was to take the car to an authorised volvo dealer so they could run a check to tel me if the car was in good condition, or if anything was near replacing. The verdict was that teh car was in excellent condition, there was nothing wrong with the car and I needed not worry about anything, except hat i might need to change the wipers in 2 months time.
3 days later i was parking the car in a parking lot. While I was manouvering the engine just cut off. First i didnt take much notice of it..i just restarted the car, and it started fine and i parked. I drove it a few more day with out any incident. But aother 3 days later I was drivin on a highway. While i was in queue to go through a round about, the same thing happened. the engine cut off...only this time when i restarted the car, it stated for a few seconds and cut off again. On the 3rd attempt the car started and i completed my journey. Yesterday I drove to work fine, but when i got into the car at the end of the day, the car wouldn't start at all. but this time, it gave me a oil pressure warning light. I waited for teh recovery to come but they took their time..so i tried to start the car again, 3 times it wouldn't start, but on the 4th attempt it started and i drove to a nearest garage, just about a minute away and bought some engine oil.I had checked to notice that the oil had been low. So i poured 1 litre of engine oil. When i stated the car, it started with no problem, so i figured that it must have been the oil that was low. But i later on went shopping in the evening. When i got back in the car, the car wouldn't start. this time there was no oil pressure warning or anything. After 3 attepmts the car started and i drove back home. Today, The car is fine..i have so far started it 3 time with no problems...
So dear expert..tell me ..Am I having a big and expensive engine problem, or is this nothing i need to worry about. by the way, the car was checked 3 weeks ago and given a clean bill of health. in that time I have travelled hundreds of miles with no hitch except what i have described above. Buy the way, the car was serviced in April 2004.
I have since booked the car for another check at the same Volvo dealer for Thursdary. Today is Saturday. Should i continue driving the car or should i park it until friday. Right now it's working fine. Did the dealer not do a good check 3 weeks ago or does something like just happen unexpectatdly. Do i need to pay more money to get the car checked again by the same dealer or should he do it for me for free since only 3 weeks ago i paid him to do the check he did? Should i change the dealer. Please help..reply needed ASAP.
AnswerHello! Is this a USA model you are talking about? There is no such thing as a 2.4 S80 in the USA. You should not drive the car. Tow it back to the dealer tthat checked it for you. There are many reasons that can cause the problem you are having. It is best to let them check it for a proper diagnosis.
