Volvo: 99 Volvo S70 blower fan does not work, dashboard panel, coolant level

Question
I have a 99 S70 Volvo GLT with 90k miles on it.

For the past couple of days, the AC/Heater Blower fan is not working. It starts blowing for less than 2 seconds when I start the car and then it stops and a red light blinks on the AC ON switch.

One peculiar thing that I noticed was that in the last 2 days, each time I first started the car in the morning, the Coolant light (on the dashboard panel) stayed on for about 3 seconds after I started the engine and then went away. This happens only the very first time I start the car in the morning.

I checked the coolant level and it is at max.

Any help with what could be wrong is appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer
It sounds like there might be something wrong within the AC system.  On newer cars such as yours, there are various sensors on each component in the car all tied to a computer.  When a sensor detects something wrong, even if it is rather minor, sometimes it will hault a system as a saftely precaution.  This might be what has happened in your case, if the computer thinks something is wrong with the AC, it might refuse to turn on the system, and in this case, refuse to turn on the blower motor as well.  Its hard to troubleshoot on your car because it is so new and complicated, so I would recommend you take it to the dealer, where they can connect it to their diagnostic computers.  They'll probably track down the problem in just a few minutes, and it probably won't be too serious.
