If you are refering to advantages of Volvo cars over others, I would say the biggest advantage is the robust drivetrain.  The 4-cylinder engine was originally designed as a tracker motor, then adapted for automobiles.  It has proved to be extremely rugged over the years, especially from the early years of the 240 series Volvos (1975-1985).  These engines have been known to go 500K miles or more without overhauls.  Beyond that, the 240 series chasis itself was built extremely hardy with hardened steel.  It weighs more than other cars, but proves safer in accidents with extra weight and integrated crumple zones, the first of their kind on early cars.
