Volvo: Engine stalls on idle - stumbles on accelleration, vacuum leaks, volvo 245

Question
I have a 1979 Volvo 245 and it's recently developed a couple problems.  First, when the tank is below half a tank of gas it stumbles on accelleration.  I read another answer in the archives saying there is probably a hole in the hose leading to an in tank pre-pump.  How easy would it be to replace this?

Secondly it has been stalling while idleing after it's been warmed up. Usually when cold it starts right up.  The idle has been really rough.  Timing has been adjusted by a mechanic and a new fuel filter has been installed...  I'm thinking maybe the problems are related?

Thanks for the help!

Answer
Hello TY1 There could be a problem with the in-tank fuel pump or hose. I would let a pro replace that for you. I would have them also check for any vacuum leaks, fuel mixture, o2 sensor, and all sensors. The old CI fuel systems can can pretty tricky. It is best to have the car checked by someone who has been around Volvo for a while.
