Volvo: 1979 Volvo 242 GT, rally cars, volvo 242

I'm currently purchasing a 242 GT. I've been told that there was not many rally cars of this style that reached the States. On the front grill there is a insert I'm wondering about. It is made into the grill and I'm confused and can find no information on it. It has a symbol and the words "Lambda Sond" on it. Can you tell me what this is/means? And do you know where I can go (online) to find more information and parts for these types of cars?

Hello Robert! The Lambda Sond symbol means that the car is equipped with an oxygen sensor. Earlier models did not have the sensor. Parts should be easliy avaialable for that car at any dealer.
