Volvo: Volvo tranny service S70, 4 quarts, drain pan

Question
I have an 2000 S70 with auto trans. Just got the car after fixing it up, had smashed front end. My tranny guy said he couldn't get all the fluid out nor could he service it. He said he got only 3.5 qts. out but couldn't find drain pan or plug. I know it holds about 9 qts. Do you know if this tranny can be serviced and fluid changed. He said the fluid was very dirty, can has 49000 miles....I e-mailed last week but had a problem with my e-mail, it's fixed now....sorry for the dup. question...Thanks for any help...Bob D.

Answer
Hey Bob! The best way to service the trans is to drain it from the 24mm drain plug on the trans. You will only get about 4 quarts out. The only other way to flush it is to remove a cooling line and run the car until all the fluid comes out. I would'nt recommend it though. It is best to just drain and refill the trans. You may have to do it a few times until all the fluid is clean.
