Volvo: 98 C70 questions, dust boots, dust covers

Question
Hi Jimmy,

I have a 98' C70 with about 30K miles. I have four questions.
1)  Recently my passenger power seat stopped working, unfortunately it is all the way forward. Do you know of a quick way of manually getting it into a usable poition?
2)  My passenger door lock will lock automatically, but not unlock. How do I remove the door panel without damaging the fastening components to see if a clip has come loose?
3)  My sunroof has started to rattle, is this something that can be repaired?
4)  Is it safe to put dust boots on my wheels? I have heard that they keep heat in and damage the rotors?

Thanks, Kevin

Answer
Hello Kevin! Here are the answers to your questions:
1. You will need to replace the seat switch assy. There is really no easy way to move the seat.
2 The door lock motor will need to be replaced. I would leave that job to a qualified VOLVO technician. It is not easy to replace. The entire window cassette must be removed.
3. The sunroof can be fixed. Anything can be fixed! It would need to be looked at to detemine what is wrong first.
4. I would not use dust covers. You can overheat the brakes and cause the rotors to warp.

I hope this info helps you.

Jimmy
