Driving & Driving Test Tips: Proper Speed Limit, city traffic engineer, traffic surveys

Question
I contend that 2 roadways in my town (northern Calif.) has two blvds with a too low speed limit. I have read the Calif. MUTCD on the subject and corresponded with our city traffic engineer but believe I am being stonewalled.  Can I send you the particulars for an opinion.  Or do you know where I can find a traffic engineer to give me his opinion.  Thanks.

Answer
I am sure you can find a traffic engineer in your area via the internet.  As to the slow speeds, you may petition the municipal engineers to increase the speed, but they will do some traffic surveys' before they consider this option.  Also you should consider obtaining the locat T-10 traffic collision summaries for these streets.  Sometimes it is prudent to keep the speeds low because of an inordinate amount of collisions.
