Driving & Driving Test Tips: spinout, pontiac g6, extreme caution

Question
Recently while driving in some wet weather and taking a turn my car spun out.  I am a teenager so my parents immediately assume reckless driving, but to be honest I was holding up traffic behind me while following a friend.

My friend was driving a mustang, which is RWD, and i a Pontiac g6, a FWD.  I took the corner slower than my friend which is a rounded turn but very sharp and is equivalent to a 90 degree turn.  I had been braking throughout the corner, and when exiting I gave a little gas and immediately lost control.  Could this have been understeer due to FWD vs. RWD, or was it too reckless for the conditions?  I'm curious because despite my extreme caution I still spun out and will have to replace the front bumper despite no actual collision.  At the time it was raining very hard, but I was still able to drive out.

Are there some probable causes here I'm not considering or is the weather the only likely factor.  I ask this because today I'm noticing that a front tire of mine is low, and maybe this has to do with it.  It just doesn't seem as if I was being in any way careless, when I was being more careful than normal, and I would honestly consider myself a safe driver.

Answer
there is probably a combination of things.  low tire pressure does not help traction in either wet or dry conditions, some vehicles just have a light rear end and the back end wants to spin out, you should not be braking while making your turning movement as this will tend to make the vehicle want to come around and depending on at what point in the turn you were in when you gave it the gas may have lightened the back end up more and sent it around.

you have to know the tendencies of your car and make sure to stay within its performence characteristics in dry and wet conditions.

all in all i would say that it was the combination of things that led to the spin out not just one thing.
