Driving & Driving Test Tips: i dont want to get hit by a car, police vehicle, traffic lights

Question
i am constantly almost getting hit by cars that dont obey traffic lights and i'm really scared! this seems to happen at least every six months. does anyone else have this problem? these cars also always seem to be in lanes further from me so the cars that actually do stop block my view of whats coming until its almost too late. ive been within 2 feet of my life more than once. is there anything i can do to be extra safe crossing the street?

Answer
There is no complete cure for this problem.  Most driver's that run red lights will do so after it has been red for a short time (a fraction of a second), but there are instances of driver's running mid phase red lights.

As a driver, even while cruising in my police vehicle, I will clear the intersection before moving forward, that is hesitate a second or so to make sure all of the approaching traffic has or is coming to a stop.

As a pedestrian, again clear the intersection before starting to cross the street.  Than as you approach each lane of traffic, clear the lane before crossing that lane of traffic.

Any time you can not see a lane of traffic clearly, approach it with caution.  In your car or as a pedestrian, slow down until you can see down that lane and clear it of approaching traffic before crossing it.
