Driving & Driving Test Tips: Road Test, turn signals, lane changes

Question
Dear Mr. Baker,

I am preparing to take my road test next week (in WI) and am hoping that you can answer a couple of questions.

Is one required to use turn signals when making a y-turn?

What are some common ways that points are lost on road tests?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

A signal is required for a Y turn or curve.  If your test is on a course, it isn't likely that you would see that anyway.

Common reasons why students lose points:

Failing to check the blind spot on each and every right and left turn as well as lane changes.

Turning into the wrong lane.

Not stopping behind the stop sign or crosswalk at an intersection.

Fail to give right of way to pedestrians or vehicles.

As I have said many times, the road test is not easy, but not hard if you prepare.  You are asking questions and hopefully you have paid attention to what you were taught in driver's ed.  Let me know how you do and what it was like for you.

Good Luck

Michael
