Driving & Driving Test Tips: Driving Alone on a Provisional Licence, provisional driver, provisional licence

Question
Could you please advice on the penalties / consequence of driving on a UK road when one only holds a provisional driver's licence please.

Thanks

Answer
Hi there,

Usually one is charged with driving without "L" plates which carries (I think) 3 penalty points, however sometimes one is further charged with failing to display "L" plates, and driving whilst unsupervised, and also without insurance (usually insurance is invalid if licence conditions are violated) or any combination of the above, which if so charged with all offences, would result in enough penalty points to be disqualified.

Really it depends on how much you have upset them.

I hope this is a theory question.

Regards, Phil.
